Who are the Farmers

The Farmers

The farmers we work with are part of the Karen people group. This means they are not native Thai, and have a different culture, language and lifestyle than the Thai (read more about them here). They have a long tradition of subsistence farming and have adapted well to growing coffee. Coffee is an additional cash crop for the farmers that allow them to pay for school fees, and other household necessities.

Silaa Coffee’s production site is based in a small Karen village where we provide support to the workers and their families. You can meet a few of our employees and farmers we buy from below.
